Thailand supported a people-centred information society, closing digital divides and protecting citizens against cybercrimes

On 17 December 2025, Ambassador Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Permanent Representative of Thailand, delivered a statement at the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the overall review of the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS+20) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
 
Ambassador Cherdchai stressed that innovation must be inclusive and sustainable in the long term, while digital development must be safe and equitable. He underscored the need for adequate and appropriate governance frameworks of digital development to ensure transparency, accountability and protection of users from cybercrimes. Additionally, inclusive collaboration of all sectors should continue to be encouraged in digital development
 
The Permanent Representative of Thailand reaffirmed the country's steadfast commitment to the WSIS vision and looked forward to working with all partners to advance future digital transformation. Thailand supports the WSIS vision that continues to shape a digital future that empowers people and bridges divides for sustainable development and shared prosperity for all.
 
The high-level meeting of the WSIS process takes place every ten years. WSIS+20 took place on 16-17 December 2025 in New York. The General Assembly will hold the WSIS+30 high-level meeting in 2035.
