On 30 December 2025, Mr. Pawi Wasuwiwath, Third Secretary, delivered Thailand’s statement at the end of the Fifth Committee main session of the UNGA80. He reiterated that, under the UN80 Initiative, it is crucial for ESCAP to receive adequate resources to efficiently and timely deliver its mandates for Member States, particularly those in special situations.

 

On the same occasion, Miss Natchayavalai Limjitti, Attaché, actively participated in the voting of relevant resolutions. Thailand supports the relocation of functions from high-cost duty stations and is open to exploring practical arrangements with ESCAP and the UN Secretariat. It also welcomes the establishment of a high-level position at the OHCHR regional office in Bangkok to support the organisation’s regionalisation efforts.

 

Thailand reaffirms its steadfast support of the work of the Fifth Committee and appreciate all delegations for their flexible and constructive negotiations.
