At the #UNSC Arria-Formula Meeting on “Upholding the Sanctity of Treaties for the Maintenance of International Peace and Security,” hosted by @PakistanUN_NY on 30 January 2026, H.E. Mr. @Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand #UN, emphasized that safeguarding the sanctity of treaties requires sustained commitment, good-faith compliance, and political will, as trust—once eroded—is difficult to restore.
Thailand reaffirmed the UN’s central role in maintaining international peace and security and supported strengthening the #UNSG’s good offices to promote treaty compliance. Thailand also reiterated its strong commitment to the #UNCharter, #InternationalLaw, and #IHL, stressing that allegations of violations must be based on verified facts and addressed through agreed legal mechanisms—not political insinuation. Selective application and double standards, Thailand underscored, erode trust, weaken multilateralism, and undermine international peace and security.
