On 8 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand, delivered a statement before the Fifth Committee of the Eightieth Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the renovation of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Premises in Bangkok.

Under the item 136 Construction and property management: Seismic mitigation retrofit and life-cycle replacements (SMP) project at the ESCAP premises in Bangkok, Ambassador Cherdchai emphasized Thailand's engaging role as the host country of ESCAP for more than seventy years. The renovation project of the ESCAP premises in Bangkok highlighted preparedness and long-term sustainability. He noted Thailand’s contribution as one of the donors supporting the creation of the Asia-Pacific Lounge at the ESCAP Secretariat Building.

Ambassador Cherdchai concluded by reaffirming Thailand's steadfast commitment to the United Nations at its eightieth anniversary and underscored the Organization’s indispensable role as the pillar of multilateralism in the region and beyond.
