On 11 August 2025, during the UNSC Open Debate on maritime security, H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations in New York, underscored the importance of safeguarding maritime security through the implementation of relevant international law, in particular the 1982 UNCLOS. He emphasized the need to address the root causes of the issues while also highlighting the importance of promoting cooperation among Member States and relevant international organizations, as well as the sustainable and responsible use of marine resources.
