On March 30 - 31, 2026, Thailand’s representatives attended the organisational  meeting of the Global Mechanism on developments in the field of ICTs at the United Nations Headquarters, New York. Ms. Orndaporn Pewngern, First Secretary, expressed Thailand’s full support for the Global Mechanism. She shared Thailand’s key priorities that focus on the application of international law in cyberspace, the important role of confidence-building measures, and the need for capacity-building to address cyber threats.

The Global Mechanism on developments in the field of ICTs is the result the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on security of and in the use of information and communications technologies ( 2021 - 2025). The OEWG was a platform that advocated strengthening states’ capacities and developing and using ICT tools responsibly as well as promoted discussions on tackling cyber threats, responsible state behavior norms, and the application of international law in cyberspace.

Thailand is committed to working with the international community under this new Global Mechanism to address cyber threats and build a safe and secure digital future.
