The Mission of Thailand accepts qualified interns who are keen to deepen knowledge and understanding of the United Nations and Thailand while providing the Mission with assistance with your area of expertise.

 

Who can apply?
Anyone who, at the time of internship, is  

  • enrolled in the third or final year of an undergraduate university programme (e.g., a bachelor’s programme),
  • enrolled in a graduate programme (e.g., a master’s or Ph.D. programme), OR
  • a recent graduate with a university degree.

The applicant’s training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should be relevant to international relations, political science, economics, law, public policy, or a
UN-related field. Applicants must be proficient in English and standard computer software applications. The Mission will only consider applicants who can commit to the internship full-time for a minimum of six (6) weeks up to a maximum of 24 weeks.   

When can I apply?
The internship program follows the timeline below:  

October - December submission of internship application for next year 
January  announcement of successful applicants
February - August internship for at least six consecutive weeks

 

How can I apply?

Send an email under a subject “Internship Application - <FULL NAME>” to [email protected] with the following documents by 31 December to be considered an internship offer for the year after:

  • Internship application form (download here)
  • Motivation/Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Reference(s)
  • Transcript
  • If applicable - Copies of university degrees and/or diplomas
  • Optional - recognised English/ other language proficiency certificates (including score reports where applicable)

 

What are the criteria for an internship offer?

The Mission takes into account of the applicant’s qualification, commitment, the order of submission, as well as a suitable period of internship due to the Mission’s limited workspace.
A successful applicant will be notified via email by 31 January with a guideline to prepare for the internship. Only successful candidates will be contacted. If not selected, you may apply again if you meet the eligibility criteria and your interest remains.  

Will I get paid?

Interns are not financially remunerated by the Mission. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.  

 

Will the Mission issue a visa for the internship?

The Mission will not issue a visa for the internship. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States, must already obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.

Can I get academic credit?

Yes, you may get academic credit from your institution of higher education for the internship. Check with your university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.

Can the Mission sign an agreement with my internship sponsor or with my university?

The Mission of Thailand does not sign any agreement, proposed or required by a sponsor, university or equivalent institution.
