On 14 November 2018, Thailand’s Major Equipment has been dispatched as part of Thailand Horizontal Military Engineering Company (HMEC) joining United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). There are 273 Thai soldiers, mostly from the engineering corps, who will  participate mainly in the rebuilding of South Sudan. They are specialists in construction of roads, bridges and airports.

Since 1950, over 27,000 Thai Military and Police personnel, women and men, have proudly served in more than 20 peacekeeping and related missions of the United Nations. Thailand currently contributes our troops, military and police components, to 3 UN peacekeeping missions (UNAMID in Sudan, UNMISS in South Sudan and UNMOGIP in India/Pakistan).

UN peacekeeping is the most concrete illustration of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security.  An investment in UN peacekeeping is an investment in our collective commitment towards peace and security.
