On 4 December 2024, The Permanent Mission of Thailand hosted a reception on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand’s Father’s Day at the Permanent Mission’s Event Hall. Over 100 Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives and other high-level representatives of Member States and Observers of the United Nations, as well as of United Nations agencies attended the event. Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Consul General of Thailand in New York, Thai military advisor and officials from both offices in New York greeted the guests.
In his remarks, His Excellency Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand highlighted His Majesty’s contributions to sustainable development and enhancing people’s livelihood. He also asserted Thailand’s continued role and commitment in promoting multilateral cooperation through the United Nations.
The reception featured Tom Yum Kung among authentic Thai menus for the guests as this culinary wisdom and one of Thailand’s best-known dishes was just inscribed on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 3 December.
