On 15 December 2022, the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Namibia to the United Nations, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, hold a hybrid event to celebrate the World Soil Day at the UN Headquarter.
In 2014 United Nations General Assembly designated 5 December, also the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, as World Soil Day. Every year we celebrate this occasion and pay tribute to His Majesty true dedication and advocacy for sustainable soil management.
In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, focused on soil management to ensure resilient food system. He underlined His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy & the New Theory, highlighting crop diversification and stressed Bio-Circular-Green economy model in creating balance and attaining Sustainable Development Goals.
